Orph - puzzle app game for all devices

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 3
Orph is a dexterity puzzle app where the objective is to get the blue dots to the blue regions, and the other colored dots to their regions.

Each region is bordered by lines that can either be slid up and down or back and forth to allow the dots to pass through. Some of the lines have colors, which indicate that only similar colored dots may pass through. Tap them to alternate their colors.

There are 52 levels and I solved 47 of them in about 45 minutes.  Fun and free.

Block Boss - puzzle game for all devices

iPhone Screenshot 1
Block Boss has been on my radar for a couple of months.   The object is to shift the tiles around each other and then slide them to the borders to catch the stars.
iPhone Screenshot 2
Not sure about this game. It's a good idea. But I don't understand why I can't make certain moves.

I have not play tested this enough.

Route-Out 2: A Thinking Puzzle

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Route-Out 2: A Thinking Puzzle is the sequel to Route-Out from 2 years ago.
iPhone Screenshot 4  iPhone Screenshot 5
In order to play this game, I had to install the latest ios version - something I was very reluctant to do.  But this game is a worthy of it.

I haven't solved all the levels yet. In fact, I still haven't solved 3 levels from the previous version, which I think makes it very close to perfect.

Puzzle Wizard (IQ 130+) - puzzle app game for all devices.

iPhone Screenshot 1
Loyal Blog Follower William Hu told me about Puzzle Wizard (IQ 130+)
iPhone Screenshot 3
This is unquestionably, one of the hardest maze games around. Most maze solvers know the essential hint: work backwards.  Impossible here.
iPhone Screenshot 5
Your goal is to pick up the key to exit.
When your man is on the green field, he can only transfer to another field via a portal. However, the fields can change colors.

I did not get far in this game. Probably because I'm trying to play test other worthy games to keep blogging 5x/week.

Puzzle Wizard (IQ 130+) demands your full attention for a solid week or more. If you have played this game, share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Also, the 2015 PAGY Awards will be posted on December 31.  The nominations will be posted December 30.  Very exciting.

Hyspherical 2

iPhone Screenshot 1        iPhone Screenshot 2
Hyspherical 2 looks like a clone of the original Hyspherical that came out about a year ago. I never played that.  But I have played Hyspherical 2.  It's quite fun.
iPhone Screenshot 4       iPhone Screenshot 5
The object is to place a ball on each shape and watch them travel along the perimeter, hoping that they'll be no collision.  On some levels, this is easily figured out.  On other levels, where the shapes are different, there's a lot of guesswork.

I've done about 15 levels.

A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build: puzzle app for all devices.

iPhone Screenshot 1
Loyal Blog Follower Daniel Scher alerted me to A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build.
iPhone Screenshot 2
This is one of the more expensive games at $4.99, but it's quite charming.  The objective is to roll the snowballs - following the rules of sokoban - and stack them up to form a snowman. This is an excellent variation to the regular sokoban games.  I'd like to see another version with 4 snowballs needed to create each snowman.
iPhone Screenshot 5

There are 30 levels and I've done them all. Took about 2 hours. Some of them are quite tricky.  I'm a little unsure about what happens when you exit. It gets a bit weird. And what's up with the telescopes? Will update this later with a list of other sokoban games.

Random Things

Zippers Lite is exactly like Flow. However, the animation of the zipper is really quite cool. The full version has 2500 levels.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zippers/id719383886?mt=8

Pinball Sniper - I've increased my top score to 566 which places me 82 out of 803,855.  That achievement, and $2.75, gets me a ride on the subway.

Double Juggle - I've increased my score to almost 150.

Maze 11 - I've completed all but 2 levels in the 6x6 series. I think they may be impossible, but it's virtually impossible to contact the developer.

Kaodoku: new puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Michel Colman's new puzzle app game Kaodoku actually comes from the Belgian Mensa society.  Each cell is either a Circle, Square or triangle. And each has either a frown, smile or neutral mouth.

I've only done 2 puzzles at the Very Easy stage and both took about 30 minutes. Very cool & fun. Great job Michel.

Other Innovative Sudoku Puzzle Apps (I'm sure this list is incomplete too!)
Kropk'i Sudoku  This is really a Latin Square with a couple of innovative ideas. It plays fast.
Quindoku Same as Logi5Puzz
Logi5Puzz  Same as NumDom. But NumDom has larger grid sizes.
Spindoku is totally different, but still very cool.
Hi-Lo Sudoku is one of my favorite variations.
Cryptdoku I played it so long ago, but it's cool.
Stimko Gold - outstanding version of squiggly Sudoku.  Handcrafted puzzles.
Kakooma - interesting for about 3 levels
RollDoku - never even solved 1 level, so hard
Cohabit- played this on my ipod touch - before ipad was invented
FlowDoKu - one of my favorites. Will not delete this.
Sudoku Mine combines Sudoku with Minesweeper
Sudoku Killer  combines Sudoku with Kakuro. I've spent a lot of time on this one. I can do the easy levels in about 10 minutes.
3Doku - a cubic version of Sudoku
Pokergreen Puzzles - a poker version of Sudoku
Star Sudoku

0h n0 - free puzzle app game for all devices.

iPhone Screenshot 1     iPhone Screenshot 5
Do you remember the game Beam Puzzle?  I'm pretty sure it's no longer available. That was a version of Rubik's old game Cover Up.

Yesterday I downloaded some new puzzle apps and saw 0h n0. It's essentially the same thing.  The grid sizes go from 5x5 to 8x8.  I've always liked this concept.  And 0h n0 is a good source of new levels.

Green the Land - A free puzzle game

iPhone Screenshot 1    iPhone Screenshot 4

Kouji Noda's game Green the Land - A free puzzle game is a packing puzzle. More accurately, it's an unpacking an repacking puzzle.

The object is to move the tiles so the river has a path.  The game has 60 levels and I'm content to just solve them.  There's a point scoring element - depending on how fast you solve them.  At the moment there are only 149 people on the Leaderboard and I'm #4.  I've completed 49 levels.

I definitely like this game and will solve all the levels - eventually.

Happy Friday everybody.

Number Chef: math puzzle app for all devices

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 3
Roope Rainisto recently contacted me about his new puzzle app game Number Chef.
It's a math puzzle which requires simple adding, subtracting, multiplying etc.
Placeholder image  Placeholder image

The objective is to combine adjacent tiles to form the numbers at the bottom. The game essentially is about Order of Operations - typically a math concept that's taught to 7th graders here in the U.S.

Very Important: When any number is placed on an odd number - the two #s will get added.

When any number is placed on an even number - the even # is subtracted.

Look at the second image.  See the question mark? Whatever number is placed on that, will get cloned.

Some levels have numbers that alternate between being positive & negative.

See the bombs in the third image? I don't know how they work, haven't gotten that far yet!

There are 150 levels and I've done about 45.  Number Chef is FREE. So do give it a chance.

ozaiko - a radially different puzzle: for ipad & iphone

iPad Screenshot 3
Ivan Hamaric recently contacted me about his new puzzle app game Ozaiko.
An unsolved puzzle
It's kind of like a jigsaw puzzle.  The object is to make the picture by swapping rings within a ring or among other rings and by flipping pieces.

At the moment, there are about 27 images to solve.  The photos themselves are quite nice. I solved them all.

Ozaiko is perfect for that person who is a casual puzzler.  As for me, I'm in the middle of doing some very serious puzzle apps which require lots of concentration.  Playing Ozaiko was a nice break.

Update 12/8/15: Ivan contacted me and figured out that I never saw the menu on the right side of his game!  I did all the puzzles using the smallest number of slices.  These can be increased to 18 pieces per ring! Obviously, more challenging.

Maze 11: puzzle app for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1iPhone Screenshot 4
Maze 11 comes from SANG MOON JOO. You may recall that I reviewed another of his games recently called Number Escape.

Maze 11 - the object is to have the blue dots travel until they hit a wall or another blue dot, and get them into the red squares.  Most of the levels have multiple red squares with different numbers and the number indicates how many blue dots must arrive there.

Sneaky: when a red square gets all its blue dots, it disappears. Sometimes this is needed for the solution

There are 3 board sizes: 4x4, 5x5 & 6x6. There are 150 levels. At the moment I've done about 75 levels. They're fun.

clean! clean the board from bricks and tiles: free puzzle app game ipad iphone

'clean! clean....tiles' is an interesting puzzle app game.  The object is to clean the board of all the tiles.

Swipe the same colored tiles to form a line of 3 or 4 and they will disappear. See the brown stars? Those are fixed obstacles. See the black circle? It's a wormhole.

There are 50 levels and I solved them all pretty quickly.

This game reminds me of Four Straight Lines.

Sorry about not posting a link to the iTunes site. It's just impossible to find this game's link.
