FlipFold By Vantage Technic

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Their Description
Are you ready to have your spatial awareness challenged? If so, FlipFold is for you! FlipFold is a new type of puzzle game never before seen, at least that is what we hear from everyone we have shown it to!

The only movements allowed are folding rows and columns together, and flipping one side to the other on both the horizontal and vertical center axis. Each movement can clear the gems if they are the same color. When you fold gems that are not the same color then they will switch places. You can also move gems around by flipping them to one side or the other, if there is an empty space for them.

Features 20 unique levels which are never the same. Another 20 are already planned with new challenges. They start off easy, but don't let that fool you.

Watch out, sometimes levels are not beatable due to randomization. So, let the hair ripping and headaches begin!

Seriously, we hope you enjoy it and spread the word about it to others. It is a great time waster that is easy to pick up but hard to put down.

A color blind option is available, which will make the center of the gems have numbers. The same gem color will have the same number.

Tom' Thoughts
I've never seen a puzzle app game like this before.  It's interesting. As you solve each puzzle, you progress to the next level. However, if you lose, it sends you back to the beginner levels.  Not sure I like that.
Interesting: on the harder levels: gray blocks appear. They can never change positions.
'Some levels are not beatable'?  Are they nuts?!

99 Clocks By Indigo Bunting

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
99 Clocks By Indigo Bunting is a dexterity puzzle app game.  The objective: as the clock turns, tap on the screen and it will shoot down another clock. Provided that your aim is good.
iPhone Screenshot 3  iPhone Screenshot 5
This game is fun!  The only drawback is that you have to watch some ads - otherwise you have to restart from the beginning.  I paid $1.99 because I got tired of the ads.

I solved all 99 levels. There's an addictive element going on. This is definitely the kind of game that could go viral.

Art of Perception: Ravioli by Peter Kibble and Jane Braybrook

iPhone Screenshot 1
Peter Kibble recently contacted me about his puzzle app game Art of Perception: Ravioli (mmmm.)

Their description:

Ravioli was invented in 1929 as a visual intelligence test. It was further developed in the 1980’s as a tool for teaching higher order thinking skills (HOTS). HOTS are the thinking skills that are most valuable to humans – they include abstraction, critical thinking, problem solving and logical reasoning.

iPhone Screenshot 3

The game consists of bold coloured stencils made from simple geometric shapes that overlay

each other, creating abstract symmetrical patterns. The player must analyse each pattern and
decode its sequence, identifying the correct stencils in their correct order. It’s a very simple
concept, but just like crossword puzzles and Sudoku, it takes a lot of brainpower to work out the
solution.
iPhone Screenshot 4

Tom's Notes: Ravioli is a very polished puzzle app game. On some levels there's a certain amount of guess and check. There are 225 levels. The easy levels use only 3 stencils.  At the moment, I'm on the ones that use 6 stencils.

Peter send me a promo code a couple of weeks ago so I could test drive it. I found an alternate solution for level 61.   Which meant that although the image I made was identical, it didn't match the solution from the program.  Peter thanked me and he said that he would replace it with another. I was convinced that my solution for 62 was valid. But I was wrong. At the moment, I'm on level 65 or so.

ThinkFun produced a series of Stencil puzzles, in case you want a physical version that is similar to this. https://www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/thinkfun/stenzzles.cfm

I believe it was developed by Ron Dubren http://rondubren.pullfolio.com/portfolios/23-stencils#0

Factory Balls is the only other puzzle app that I can think of that uses stencils.

Next - Numbers By Vito Technology Inc.

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Next - Numbers By Vito Technology Inc. is a point scoring dexterity puzzle app game. The objective is to tap on the numbers as fast as possible.
iPhone Screenshot 3  iPhone Screenshot 4
There are some fancy diagnostics that show how agile your mind is. There's also a leaderboard for the easy, medium, hard & expert levels.

We've seen this type of speed/reaction games many times before.  They're all good for hopefully warding off Alzheimer's.

What's particularly good about the expert levels: the numbers are in different sizes and the areas & shapes are also different.

Tom's thoughts: this game is similar to a few other games. Unfortunately, I don't remember those titles. I solve all 40 of the 'hard' 7x7 levels.  Not so hard. But still fun.

YK Puzzle by Kien Bui

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 4
YK Puzzle is one of those topology puzzles that I'm always doing.  This one is way too easy and I think it's a clone of Space Dots.  The object is to start at 1 and trace a path through all the numbers and end on the highest number. This game is strictly for kids.

Cumulator by Yohei Sato

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Do you remember the game TAPES by Yohei Sato from 2014? (See link below.)  Great Ribbon Puzzle.
Cumulator is actually from 2013. Looking at the graphics, it seems like it's for kids. It's for everybody.

iPhone Screenshot 3  iPhone Screenshot 4
The object is to rearrange the blocks so that the little guy can climb up and get to his rocket ship.

There are 80 levels and they start off pretty easy.  Best of all, you can skip around.  I've solved all 80 levels. Fairly quickly.  I must admit, I think this game is a lot of fun.  I laughed when I figured out level 65.

Coloruid

     Coloruid- screenshot

Coloruid is a puzzle app a lot like Floodit.  The object is to get everything as one color.  With Floodit, the number of moves was not always predetermined.  In Coloruid, there is always a minimum number of moves.

What I like about Coloruid:
1. There are only 36 levels.
2. The graphics are nice.

Tilemetry by Ted Neustaedter

iPhone Screenshot 2  iPhone Screenshot 3
Ted Neustaedter recently contacted me about his puzzle app game Tilemetry.  The object is to get the numbers to add up to the matching sum at the right and at the bottom.

Look closely: each tile has 2 numbers which always add up to 9.

There are a ton of levels.  The 2x2 grids are obviously quite simple.  It starts to get interesting at the 3x3 levels.  If you like those, you can also do 3x4, 3x5, 3x6, 3x7, 3x8 and 3x9.

I did the section of 4x4 which is more interesting. Of course the grid sizes get really big. The largest is 9x9.

Tilemetry is definitely an interesting math puzzle. This would be a perfect game for elementary school math whizzes. But you can still have fun with it as an non math whiz adult.

Hex 22 by Sang Moon Joo

    Hex 22- screenshot thumbnail
Sang Moon Joo's description:
Hex 22 is a simple number puzzle game.
[How to play]
- 2 or more same numbers connect.
- Number block of the last part become +1. and rest blocks disappear.
- When no more connected, game is over.

I've added a scoring sheet for how many points you'd get for various things.   For example, merging two 5's to form a single 6 will give 32 points.

My high score at the moment is around 91,000. But that was when I had no strategy.  When I developed a strategy, my high score did not top even 60,000.  Reminds me of the game SPL-T. Overthinking that game, I got worse and worse.

Hex 22 can take a long time to play just one game, but it's definitely addictive.

Addendum, last night & this morning I had a great game going. Could've died several times, but got lucky. Or was is that I was using some probability game theory to optimize my chances of getting lucky? My score was 86,000, and I still had adjacent 13's to combine.  Suddenly, the program crashed. I re-opened it and the game was gone.
