Roll the labyrinth ball by Ruslan Goncharenko Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Roll the labyrinth ball comes from Ruslan Goncharenko, who's produced a number of puzzle apps.

The game is more like a 'pipe' puzzle where the objective is to rotate individual squares so that the red ball will have a path the silver square. Some squares are bolted in a fixed state.

What's interesting?
1. There are wormholes that theoretically make things extra hard.  But not really.
2. The Grid sizes are 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7 and 8x8. Each grid sizes has 1000 levels ranging from Beginner to Expert.  That's right, there are 5000 levels in all.

I solved the first 8 Extreme levels in the 8x8 size. Not so hard.

Roll the labyrinth ball would be good for novice puzzlers.

Treple - Original Number Puzzle Game by Fluid Pixel Limited Free

screen4  screen1
Gareth Slack: Game Developer/Artist and Stuart Varrall: Designer/Chief Complainer are the brains behind Treple - Original Number Puzzle Game , which is a point scoring puzzle app game.

screen2  Your Logo iPhone Screenshot 1

The game board is a 5x5 grid with numbers 1-5. The object is to change 1 number to form a string of 3 consecutive numbers.

Look at the last image. The instructions: add 1.  Obviously, tap the 2 on the right.

Adding 1 to a 5, makes it a 1.

Scoring Points: There is a multiplier that is essential. Your first set will likely yield 3 points. The string disappears and new numbers randomly fall in. If you can find/make a new sequence, you'll get those 3 points times two. After that, times 3. Etc.

According to the game makers, the highest multiplier so far was times 212. Phenomenal!

How is that possible? Pops. These are earned and then used - strategically.

The Leaderboard has 2 categories: Total High Score and Total High Score without Using Pops. I played this game for a week, without even realizing Pops existed. At the moment, I'm #2 in that department.

Treple has a lot going for it: simple to learn, great graphics and interesting concept. If you're careful, one game can take 45 minutes.

Nulla by Logify LLC Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Nulla is a solitaire puzzle app game.  The object is to combine adjacent numbered tiles that are the same and whittle down to just 1 tile.

Look at the 2nd image.  Combine the two 11's and they turn into a single 10. In this case move the left 11 over to the right 11 so that the resulting 10 is adjacent to the one that's already on the board.

The puzzles are not hard. However, there's a scoring system. Every correct move counts as 1 point. If you make a mistake, you back to zero.

My high score is about 200.

The graphics and overall presentation are very good.  I recommend this for novice puzzlers and for those who like peg solitaire games. Though it's not quite the same thing.

Crystalux. New Discovery by Dmitriy Vasin Free

Crystalux. New Discovery comes from Dmitriy Vasin. The object is to move the hexagons around to form a closed loop or loops.  I must confess that I almost gave up after doing a few levels because it seemed too easy. However, the patterns formed at the end of each level are quite nice. Think Celtic Knots nice.  The reward at the end: the gems glow.

There are 317 levels.  I've done 60 of the Basic Levels and 17 of the Advanced Levels. None of the Expert Levels yet.  I must admit, I'm stuck - for now. Crystallux is not addictive. It's actually the opposite: just plain enjoyable.

Zero+ by SaturnBoy, LLC Temporarily Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Zero+ came out in 2015.  I wasn't intrigued enough to try it.  But last week it was listed as Free.

At first, I didn't think I'd like it, however I was wrong!  The object is to slide your negative numbered tiles onto the positive numbered tiles to they turn into zero.

What's Cool

1. There are blocks (the white X squares) and directional lines and curves.
2. Look at the last image. Look at the most middle white square. The right curve is darker: that is the active curve.  After a tile passes over it, it will toggle to the other curve.
3. Non Equal Tiles. A Negative 4 can go to a Positive 1. It will then become Negative 3 and then can change directions.
4. There is an undo button. Obviously, not a big deal, unless you've been playing games that don't have this.
5. The graphics are very good and most importantly, the puzzles are at a perfect level of difficulty. That is: Hard Enough that I get stuck, but easy enough that I'll solve it after 5 tries.

There are 120 levels and at the moment, I've done 60.

Oggoelement by Olivier Darmon Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Oggoelement by Olivier Darmon  is a puzzle app game that is similar to Lunar Lockout.

The object is to pair up Your Men by sliding them until they hit an obstacle.  They do not have to crash into each other; they simply need to land adjacent to one another.

There are 18 free levels.  After that, $.99 buys 72 more.

What's interesting:

1. Some pillars can be tapped out of existence.

2. Directional arrows force the movement to one direction.

3. The art/graphics are very good.

4. There's no undo button, which is annoying. But that's okay because I really like this game.

5. These puzzles are tough!
6. Of the 90 levels I've solved 49 and am stuck. These puzzles are very well designed.

7. Looking at the Leaderboard - nobody is playing this. Only 12 people have finished the first set of free puzzles. C'mon puzzlers, show some support. This game is free with no ads.

Dump Trump Game by wisebeetle Free

Dump Trump is available now.
Dump Trump Game is the first political puzzle app game in a long time. It's a tilt maze puzzle app.  The object is to get Donald to the skyscraper.  Getting Hillary to the skyscraper is not allowed.
iPhone Screenshot 1
When swiping, all the heads travel together.  All the Donalds must get to the skyscraper.
iPhone Screenshot 4
There are 20 levels and they took me about 12 minutes. The puzzles themselves are okay. But the concept is not new and these levels aren't very hard.

If you're going to download & play this game, do it during Sunday night's 2nd presidential debate. Then delete it, because it's not worth keeping. Which may be a reflection of the actual people.

Rubek by Xigma Games $1.99

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Himanshu Manwani and Goverdhan Gosavi are the brains behind Rubek. Rubek is a Cube Rolling Puzzle most similar to Qvoid - see link below.

The objective: Your Man, the white cube, will pick up red, blue and green faces at the squares with plus signs. Those colored faces allow you to land on certain squares. They also: lift up squares and rotate sections of the grid.

If you're a perfectionist and want to earn 3 stars, you will have to restart some levels to get the minimum number of moves. There is no undo button.

There are about 70 levels and I solved about 25 levels. I like this game.

ReflecTs DS by Doublesquare LLC Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
ReflecTs DS is a laser with mirrors puzzle app game. How many laser puzzle apps have I reviewed on this blog? I've lost count.

Look at the first image. The laser is in the middle of the left wall.  The two red squares inside are splitters. This particular level has 3 targets: the 2 squares on top and 1 on the bottom.

There are 50 levels and I've done about 25 of them.  What's interesting: with the splitters, you have to figure out from which direction you need to enter it.

Edges - A Puzzle Challenge by Clearly Puzzled Games LLC Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Edges - A Puzzle Challenge is an Edge-Matching Puzzle.  The object is to rotate each square so that all the edges match.

You didn’t think the game was just going to be turning squares… did you?
  • Snowmen will give you hints. Sweet!
  • Ghosts will obscure your sight. Spooky!
  • Actors will turn squares themselves. Seriously?!
And more! We’ve got to keep a few cards up our sleeves…

I solved 19 levels. It's certainly colorful and if you've never tackled this genre, give it a try.

Twisted Lines – Mind-twisting Puzzles by Megagon Industries $2.99

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
I'm a big fan of Ribbon Puzzles when they're well done. The first such game is Colorbind (see link below). Twisted Lines – Mind-twisting Puzzles by Megagon Industries is a fantastic addition to this genre.

The objective is to get Your Man (the colored square) to meet its matching target square.

Here's what's cool. As you stretch your ribbon, it leaves behind a double colored tail. When you cross over your tail, the square's color trades with the first line.

More: many levels have Two Men, each having a different square. Which leads to very complicated swapping because One Man can cross over the tail of the Other Man.

There are also wormholes with optional exits - very interesting.  And Erasers that will eliminate the tail of One Man.

There are over 100 levels and at the moment I've done about 85 levels. Level 3.5 was the first real tough one for me.

Graphics: I'm not crazy about these.
1. Pillars are always the same color as Your Man. They change color with it.  I'd rather they be black.
2. Outside the grid, the space also changes with Your Man. I'm guessing this takes up too much battery.
3. Music: I always turn this off for every game. For Twisted Lines, I have to turn it off every time I open the program.

All of those are minor complaints. This puzzle app game simply rocks.

Markoshiki by Marco Barisione Free

iPhone Screenshot 1
Markoshiki comes from Marco Barisione.  The objective is to place the numbers in a clockwise, circular pattern.

From the App Store:
The rules are simple:
- Numbers grow in a clockwise direction following the arrows.
- Consecutive numbers are in the same row or column as the previous number, but in different quadrants.
- The numbers that are already in the board when you start the game cannot be modified.

My thoughts:
1. This game is very similar to another puzzle app I reviewed about 2-3 years ago. Unfortunately, I've forgotten the title.
2. The grid sizes go from 3x3 to 5x5.
3. The Difficulty ranges go from easy to Extreme.

I've done a few 5x5 Extremes and I'm very impressed with the graphics and controls.  In terms of difficulty, this genre cannot get too tough.

In the other version of this game, which I don't recall the title, giant grids were spread over 9 quadrants. That led to a very interesting element where any anytime, the path could veer into the center quadrant.

Bend It: Flex Your Brain - Mechanical Puzzle $10

Recently I opened up Bend It: Flex Your Brain - another puzzle from the folks at Smart Games.

The objective is to place all the pieces into the grid to match the 60 black & white challenges.

Most interesting: all the pieces bend in some way.

Even more interesting: the construction of the pieces is outstanding.

I solved about 20 levels.  These puzzles get very challenging. Probably too hard for kids under 12.

From A Reviewer on Amazon:
The secret to solving the puzzles is to find where only one certain piece can go. This can change for each puzzle but for example in Puzzle 23 there is a place where there is a lone white dot encircled by all blacks. Only one of the six pieces can be used there. There may still be a couple ways to put in that piece but you can use elimination once you know the piece you are working with.

Who Can Get Z by Ruijun Li Free

iPhone 屏幕快照 2  iPhone 屏幕快照 1
Remember the puzzle app game Subara City? It's a great point scoring puzzle app game.  Who Can Get Z from Ruijun Li is very similar.

What's different?
In Subara City The objective is build up your houses into hotels and skyscrapers. Then merge the skyscrapers.

In Who Can Get Z, the objective is simply to get Z.

Both games are quite good and both will take a long time to play.

Politaire by Pine Entertainment Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Politaire is a point scoring puzzle app game.

"Politaire is a Solitaire mixed with Poker. Your aim is to make winning hands with 5 active cards in your hand.

Choose cards that you want to discard and swipe it away. Upcoming cards will fill up your active hand and score if you make a winning hand. Discarded cards will go back to the pile, waiting to come up again.

The minimalist visuals hide an interesting depth that will keep challenging and surprising as you master it."

My thoughts:
1. Excellent graphics
2. My high score is 2800 after 5 games.
3. You could better maximize your score by keeping a companion deck of cards to keep track of what's left toward the end. Expert bridge players keep this in their memory banks constantly.
4. You may be going for a yellow flush....but if there's a blue 7 to match your yellow 7 - tough luck. That's why this game is interesting.

Outfolded by 3 Sprockets Free!

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Outfolded by 3 Sprockets is an extremely popular puzzle app game. The object is to unroll - face by face - your cubes to go from 1 square to another. The game is endless.  I did 12 levels and thought to myself - it's okay.  I think it's appealing because of the music and the fact that you can undo every move.

Somebody on the Leaderboard has done over 4000 levels.

Reviews from the App Store:

Amazing game! One problem

I played the game constantly
And I would enjoy the satisfaction of winning and getting new themes. But once I got to level 400 I lost that feeling... There's noting to look forward too, and I found out the game has no end. I can't play the game with no end, maybe it's just me but the game would be so much more if there were themes for the next couple hundred levels, but I want to say thank you. It's such an amazing game, I loved it, while it lasted.

Calming/Relaxing
The atmosphere, everything from colors to music and sound effects, is deeply relaxing. The game allows to go at your own pace and allows for unlimited restarts on each level. A game that normally would be frustrating is extremely relaxing.

Beam - Puzzle Game by Ryan Kozierok Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
Loyal Blog Follower Joel told me about Beam - Puzzle Game by Ryan Kozierok. There are multiple objectives. Look at the last image. The object is to get the orange disc into the orange square. However, it cannot cross any other beam.  The solution is to move one of the blue discs first.
iPhone Screenshot 3  iPhone Screenshot 4
Look at the first image. The object is to break the beams.  Most of the 60 levels have multiple objectives.

There are 60 levels and 10 bonus levels if you get 3 stars for optimum solutions.  I solved all 60 relatively quickly. It's not hard, but it is an interesting concept.  I like the graphics too.  And it's free.

Sequence Nine by Ahoot Media Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Loyal Blog Follower William Hu steered me to Sequence Nine.  I think I saw the icon on the App Store and assumed it was a Flow clone.  It's nothing like it. In fact, it's unique, challenging, sophisticated and most importantly, fun.

Look at the first two images.  Your task is to draw a route in the bottom 9 squares. When you're done, the green dot in the top will follow that pattern, repeatedly, and hopefully arrive at the hole in the top right corner.

There are 240 levels and things get tough.
1. You can't pass through the red walls.
2. Passing through a white dot will open/close the white lines.
3. Wormholes:  Many levels have two sets of wormholes.
4. The hardest levels include white lines (with white dots) also yellow lines (with yellow dots) and wormholes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 batches or 180 levels.
